The inaugural event of The Wandering Dog took place on Friday, July 28th, featuring The Bateleurs, a group of over 200 pilots dedicated to environmental conservation in South Africa. The event, held at Wildekrans Wine Estate, captivated an enthusiastic audience. Renowned local Chef Gordon Manuel delighted guests with a remarkable 'Bush and Boma' inspired menu. Dr. Mike Kock, a celebrated wildlife veterinarian, introduced his autobiography "Through My Eyes," which quickly sold out and raised funds for The Bateleurs.
During the event, a vintage 1937 Springboks Tour to Australasia book, generously donated by James Ludick of Romantiques, Hermanus, was auctioned, finding a new owner in Kathu Crasemann. Additionally, a case of the exquisite Wildekrans Barrel Select Shiraz 2016 was won by Luke Cornell. We extend immense gratitude to the restaurant team for their graceful and warm hospitality, as well as the extraordinary individuals who consistently go above and beyond.
Emma and I, founders of The Wandering Dog, are elated to kickstart our new venture with this successful and enlightening event, which heightened awareness for our chosen CSI organization, The Bateleurs. Over the past 25 years, The Bateleurs have displayed remarkable dedication to supporting various conservation initiatives across South Africa.
We eagerly anticipate inviting you to upcoming conservation-focused events where we can collectively delve into the inspiring efforts of incredible individuals dedicated to safeguarding our environment.
